PASSERIFORMES: Menuridae
Menura alberti
I'm glad Geoff got a couple of decent pics of the Albert's Lyrebird because my attempts so far have not been a success.
I sat quietly for ages with my legs and feet straining to prevent me sliding further down the hillside whilst I watched this particular bird scratching around for a feed.
I hoped the bird would move closer but this photo was the best of a bad bunch.
Eventually my legs set up an uncontrollable shaking so I got up from my covert position and turned to find myself face to face with another lyrebird only a few feet away.
We both got quite a surprise and Albert Two squawked in alarm and disappeared before I could raise my camera. But it was oh so close. Next time maybe.
